St Nicholas’ Church, Kiddington, now has new heating, which we hope will now make it possible to hold services there even during the colder months (or on cold days in summer). It is under the pews, so it will warm the congregation rather than the air under the roof!
Our All Age service on Sunday 6 March will be at St Mary’s Glympton at 10.15 am to celebrate both our own mothers and also Mary, Mother of the Church. All welcome.
The Service of Remembrance this year will be held in Wootton church at 10.15 am on Sunday 8 November. As well as our annual remembrance of those killed in conflict during the two World Wars and after, there will be a special dedication of a gift from the Hanson family. This is a ceramic poppy from the 2014 installation at the Tower of London – Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red – which commemorated the start of the First World War. The poppy will be placed near the war memorial in church.
Come and join the children of the school, their parents, and members of the community at our monthly services at St Mary’s, Wootton. The service begins between 9 and 9.15 am, but coffee is served from 8.45 and after the service, which lasts about 20 minutes. We usually meet on the first Wednesday in the month. Please come and enjoy this brief informal service!
In November we will be collecting our shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child at this service (details about this collection of gifts for needy children available in the churches and at the shops).
Beacons will be lit, bells will be rung, and gun salutes fired on 8 May to commemorate the 70th anniversary of VE Day.
